Honed by the never-ceasing north winds they call gods, the Duerkhar have learned to survive in the seclusion of the highlands. This harsh environment that allows for no mistakes has shaped a society of fearless clans of herders, hunters and gatherers through self-control and discipline. Yet the wind's truest test is not the cold, but the calling it carries, said to whisper each Duerkhar's true purpose, their zhi, to those wise enough to listen. However, the turmoil in the Lowlands is challenging the strict traditions of the Duerkhar, raising the question of whether isolation can continue to be an answer to a tightening net of new dangers.
